History of Eid Milad-un-Nabi

Eid Milad-un-Nabi, sometimes referred to as Mawlid or Eid-e-Milad, rose to prominence in the eighth century as the Prophet's home was turned into a place of worship. The Caliph of the time, Al-Khizuran, performed the conversion.

The ruling clan of Egypt observed the day in the eleventh century. Later on in the day, people said prayers and recited lines from the Holy Quran.

When other Muslim countries like Syria, Turkey, and Spain began to observe the day in the 12th century, the modern tradition of commemorating the day was established.

The day evolved into a celebratory event throughout time, although it is not a holiday.

How will Eid Milad-un-Nabi be observed in 2022?

Muslims commemorate the birth of the Prophet Mohammad during the first part of Eid Milad-un-Nabi by dressing in new attire, preparing delectables, and sharing presents. They also read lines from the Quran and perform namaz.

Muslims observe the second part of the day as a time of mourning for the loss of the Prophet Mohammad by recalling his teachings, providing for the underprivileged, giving alms, performing namaz, and reading lines from the Holy Quran.

Meaning of Eid-e-Milad or Eid-un-Nabi in 2022

The Prophet Muhammad's birth and death are both honoured on this day. Today is the day to beg the Almighty for pardon and mercy.
